Hershey, PA (November 18, 2017) — The weather may be getting colder outside, but it only gets cozier inside the AACA Museum, Inc. as we get ready for the holidays! The Museum is filled with dozens of decorated trees, model train displays and special vehicles for our holiday celebration! Traditional favorites like Sammy the 29 ft., 21-ton snow plow and the Grinch Scavenger Hunt are back again this year. We also have some new things to share this year with our latest featured exhibit Getting the Job Done: Vehicles That Earned Their Keep focused on those vehicles that are all about work. From Firetrucks to Police Cars, a Good Humor Ice Cream truck to a Super Truck and everything in between you’ll see some rarely seen vehicles of all shapes and sizes.
Giving back is also part of the holiday season, so we’re proud to be helping those in need by hosting our annual Food and Toy Drive. We are an official collection location for Toys for Tots, and we will also be collecting non-perishable food and personal care items for donation to the Central PA Food Bank.
All Aboard! It wouldn’t be the holiday season without trains, and we have lots share!
Several custom train platforms are on display throughout the Museum where visitors can delight in exploring their many fascinating details. Our main train display has many buttons to push allowing you to explore lots of interactive buildings and scenes.
One of the best-loved holiday train stories is the Polar Express. Join us for a special Polar Express Pajama Party on Friday, December 1st from 6-9 PM. Pajamas, pillows, blankets and stuffed animals are encouraged as you settle in to enjoy “The Polar Express” movie surrounded by train displays, holiday trees, and special vehicles. The very first DeLorean, the prototype 1, is here along with a later production model both on view together.
Special note: Toys for Tots is not able to accept realistic looking weapons and toys that may include food as a component. All food and toy donations are being accepted in the Museum lobby. Toys donated after December 15th will be part of the 2018 distribution.
