Road Map Collector’s Show
Apr 21 @ 9:00 am – Apr 22 @ 2:00 pm
Road map collectors are coming to the museum, April 21 – 22, for their annual Spring MapCon, and they are bringing with them thousands and thousands of collectible road maps! The museum has partnered with the Road Map Collectors Association since 2018 for a permanent exhibit, curated by the association, and has hosted annual conventions for map collectors.
This year the Spring MapCon will be a two day event held in the Rotunda. The event is open to the public to stop by and browse through the maps that were given away by the millions by gas stations, highway departments, tire companies and more, as a way to help the motoring public, encourage travel, and promote products. In addition to several vendors, the MapCon is famous for having bins of “bargain maps” to dig through. These are maps that have been donated to the club and you never know what may be hiding within.
MapCon is open museum hours on Friday, April 21 and 9 to early afternoon, Saturday. As a non-profit, the RMCA is able to accept donations of maps, so if you have a stack of maps (in good condition) you may bring them along as a donation.
