Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Movie Night

Date: Sunday, January 17 Time: 5:00 PM – 9:00 PM  Join us for a fun movie night with the classic Chitty Chitty Bang Bang on the big screen here at the AACA Museum where you’ll be surrounded by lots of vintage cars.   It’s also your last chance to see the National Touring Chitty Chitty Bang Bang car live here at the AACA Museum.  Pajamas, pillows, blankets and stuffed animals are encouraged ! Admission to this event includes some kid friendly foods (i.e. hot dogs, popcorn, cookies, hot chocolate, pizza).  Enjoy the movie – a classic released in 1968 “Chitty Chitty Bang Bang” right here inside the AACA Museum. Movie will begin @ 6:00 PM and runs 144 minutes.  A down-on-his-luck inventor turns a broken-down Grand Prix car into a fancy vehicle for his children, and they go off on a magical fantasy adventure to save their grandfather in a far-off land.   Staring Dick Van Dyke, Sally Ann Howes and Lionel Jeffries.  Written by Roald Dahl (screenplay) and Ian Fleming (novel).  Directed by Ken Hughes. Polar Express Pajama Party

Date: Sunday, December 6 Time: 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. It’s time again to BELIEVE. The magic of the Polar Express pulls into the AACA Museum again for the Polar Express Pajama Party! Visitors are greeted at the door by a railroad conductor who stamps their golden ticket and they are free to enjoy a tour of the AACA Museum including the Polar Express model train display along with several other train displays and dozens of holiday trees, specialty vehicles and more in our holiday wonderland. Pajamas, pillows, blankets and stuffed animals are encouraged! Admission to this event includes some kid friendly food – hot dogs, popcorn, cookies, hot chocolate and pizza. A Veteran’s Day Salute

Date: Wednesday, November 11 Time: 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. In honor of our Veterans, the AACA Museum offers complimentary admission to all Veterans on Veteran’s Day. Active duty military receive complimentary admission with military ID year-round. The AACA Museum will have a special vehicle on display – A 1942 Ford Jeep GPW (general purpose design Willys).   The demand for jeeps in World War 2 was so great they also contracted with Ford to make these. The Museum of Bus Transportation Annual Meeting

Date: Saturday, October 31 Time: 8:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.  Featured Event Speaker: Jim Lehrer     The Museum of Bus Transportation (MBT) holds its Annual Meeting at the AACA Museum this fall. Speaker Jim Lehrer, former anchor of ‘The News Hour’, will share information with attendees about his family’s Central Kansas Bus Lines and other bus-related subjects. He will be officially turning the title and ownership of his 1945 Flxible Airporter over to the MBT.   The bus will join the exhibit featured  in the Museum. Event Overview Museum opens at 8:30 8:30 – 10:15: Registration, Refreshments, and Mini-Flea Market, several vendors on hand selling bus-related items. 10:30 – 11:15: Guest Speaker, Jim Lehrer Presentation 11:30 – 12:30 p.m.: Business Meeting: A presentation of MBT financials and operations for 2105.            Election of MBT Board members:  Meeting notices and ballots will be sent out later this Summer. 12:30 p.m. – 1:45 p.m.: Luncheon, with “fun food”  (burgers, hot dogs, etc.) provided after the meeting 2:30 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.: Bus Tour (slated for Herhsey Trolley Works) and Annex Gift Shop:   Special 20% off any BUS-RELATED items in the Museum gift shop.
