The Elegance at Hershey to be Held June 12-14
A Weekend of Cars & Causes at The Hotel Hershey
HERSHEY, PA – The Elegance at Hershey is a celebration of a bygone era when the automobile stirred our imaginations and quickened our hearts.
Today, people both young and old marvel at the extravagances of the automobiles of the past. From race cars to street cars that were not only about pure performance but also incorporated artistic design, a symphony of sound and sensory overload worthy of the finest wines. Cars were not just about transportation; they were a statement.
The Elegance at Hershey will bring the finest of race cars and show quality collector cars of the pre-World War II and immediate post-World War II period together for a weekend celebrating the automobile.
The Elegance at Hershey is so much more than a celebration, it is also about causes. Raising money for charity is the ultimate point of this event; JDRF, the AACA Museum, and AACA Library & Research Center will benefit.
The festivities commence on Friday with The Grand Ascent, a vintage hill climb exhibition in the European tradition, where drivers pilot some of the finest historic race cars up the historic back road at the Hotel Hershey. The Grand Ascent appeals to enthusiasts and curious spectators alike. Sanctioned by the Vintage Sports Car Club of America (VSCCA), the two-day hill climb event includes a sponsor/vendor area for marketing to participants and the general public.
The Elegance Challenge – a 5K run – is a timed runners’ race up the challenging Grand Ascent hill climb course held Saturday. With a 7/10-mile steep uphill first leg, the race continues back to the start line area for a total of 5K. Sponsorship and entry fees benefit The Elegance at Hershey charities.
In 2015 we initiate the Concorso Bizarro, a car show of “unusual” and just plain weird cars and other surprises that are sure to make the weekend even more spectacular. This will also be held on Saturday.
Following the Grand Ascent on Saturday, there will be a gala themed night-time party and fun-filled celebration for the benefit of the charities. The event reaches its crescendo the following day, with the highlight of the weekend, The Elegance. Modeled after the finest concours in Europe and America, The Elegance is a genteel garden party featuring the world’s finest collector cars, arrayed around the classically manicured gardens of The Hotel Hershey®. Car owners, hotel guests, and those who appreciate automotive history, gather for a day of mutual admiration and relaxed camaraderie. Sprinkled among the fabulous and famous cars will be tents filled with art and other treasures.
The Elegance at Hershey is currently seeking high-quality sponsors and vendors for its 2015 events. A wide range of vending and sponsorship opportunities exists.
