The Museum of Bus Transportation’s (MOBT) merger with the AACA Museum, Inc. creates a national showcase for bus history in North America. From its beginnings in 1994, the MOBT’s goal was to establish a first-class museum to preserve the heritage of the industry and educate the public on bus transportation’s contributions to American history.
Merging and Moving Forward
In January of 2020, the MOBT merged with the nationally recognized AACA Museum, Inc. in Hershey PA, where it had been renting exhibit space. At the AACA Museum, Inc, the MOBT’s historic bus fleet has grown to more than 40 buses, some more than 100 years old. A substantial portion of the fleet is on public display at any given time on nearly 6,000 square feet of dedicated bus exhibit space. Also, the AACA Museum boasts a comprehensive graphic “Timeline” of bus building in North America, perhaps the only one of its kind in the world, and a substantial collection of bus memorabilia.
Open Daily and Annual Events
The MOBT collection at the AACA Museum is the only preserved bus fleet open to the public nearly every day of the year, and admission includes the entire three-story AACA Museum.
Each year the Museum holds a Spring Fling at the AACA Museum and attracts hundreds of bus enthusiasts and dozens of antique coaches from as far away as California. This year’s Spring Fling is scheduled for June 4 &5, 2021.
Helping to Preserve Treasures
In addition to the countless hours of dedicated volunteer work to preserve these treasures, it requires substantial financial support to restore, preserve, and exhibit them. The AACA Museum is a popular destination for both car and bus buffs, and a great addition to any visit to the Hershey, PA area.
