The holidays are also about giving back and we’re excited to again be coordinating a food & toy drive here at the AACA Museum beginning November 14 and running through December 30, 2017.
Food Drive with Central Pennsylvania Food Bank
Non-perishable food donations will be distributed via The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank. The Central Pennsylvania Food Bank is a nonprofit organization that is able to reduce hunger in 27 counties across central Pennsylvania. By working with more than 800 partner agencies they are able to provide food for more than 55,000 people in need every week.
High Priority Items Include: Canned Tuna, Cereal, Macaroni & Cheese, Canned mates and stews, canned soup, peanut butter, canned fruits & vegetables, packaged meals, packaged pasta and rice, canned and dried beans, pure fruit and vegetable juices, baby food, cereal and formula.
Financial contributions will also be accepted. With access to the wholesale distribution market Central PA Food Bank can stretch each dollar you donate. For every $1 donated, the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank can provide 6 meals to hungry individuals.
Toys for Tots Toy Drive
Members of the community and visitors to the AACA Museum are encouraged to drop-off new, unwrapped toys in collection boxes positioned in our lobby. Coordinators pick up these toys and store them in central warehouses where the toys are sorted by age and gender. At Christmas, Coordinators, with the assistance of local social welfare agencies, church groups, and other local community agencies, distribute the toys to the less fortunate children of the community. Toys donated beyond this year’s distribution date will be held for the 2017 Christmas distribution.
We’re looking for new, unwrapped toys for children up to age 16. Toys for Tots prefers not to accept realistic looking weapons and gifts with food. If donated, such items will NOT be distributed.
