“ Victory ” Commemorative Illustration
J.D. Orr created this original illustration to honor AACA Museum Automotive Heritage Award Winners – Bill Miller, Jr. and Chip Miller, founders of Carlisle Events, for their significant contributions to the automotive hobby.
This piece is 18″ x 24″ in size on mixed media silk illustration bond paper. Copic Marker, Alpha Pastel, and Windsor Newton Watercolor Tempra were used to create this illustration.
Artist Tribute Statement:
Chip Miller and Bill Miller Jr. were two “car guys” who shared a dream and witnessed the dream come to life in 1974. Together, they established the “Postwar Car Show” settling on Carlisle, Pennsylvania as its inaugural home base. From that first show presentation, the rest is history … two great American Icons created what is now known as the “greatest automobile show on earth.” Its spectacle is one to behold. It is inspiring, fascinating, and most significantly, a genuine American institution that celebrates the excitement of the automobile industry like no other … thanks to the vision of two great American “car guys.”
