Drive-In Theaters: A Uniquely American Institution
Mar 26, 2022 @ 11:00 am – 12:30 pm

Going to the movies is tightly woven into the fabric of entertainment history worldwide. However, going to the movies at a drive-in theater is much more popular in the United States than in any other country. Perhaps it’s because the drive-in movie is truly an American invention. Over the years, we’ve seen the changing fortunes for drive-ins, but we still appreciate their unique place in American culture that brought cars, stars, and movie-goers together.
Join us for a “Live” Look at Drive-Ins
For our next AACA Museum Live webcast, Executive Director Jeffrey Bliemeister presents “Drive-In Theaters: An American Institution.” Offered virtually via Zoom or onsite in the Museum’s own drive-in theatre, the program covers, the history, uniqueness, popularity, and changing landscape of these iconic open-air venues. Also, Tim Neal, manager of the Sky Vu Drive-In (Gratz, PA), joins the discussion. Sky Vu has been in business since 1948. Tim offers a unique perspective from an owner/operator’s viewpoint.
In-person participation
Jeff Bliemeister’s onsite presentation is included with paid general admission to the Museum. You can purchase your admission ticket now or at the door when you arrive. Space is limited.
