Hershey, PA – In celebration of its 2014 success, The Elegance at Hershey Board of Directors and Executive Director Kara Lang were pleased to present checks totaling $125,000 to JDRF, the AACA Museum and the AACA Library & Research Center on Wednesday, November 12, 2014 at The Hotel Hershey.

Organizers presented $75,000 to Theresa F. Haenn, Executive Director JDRF Eastern Pennsylvania Delaware Chapter and MaryAnn Pruden, Development Coordinator JDRF Central PA Chapter; $25,000 to Chris Ritter, Chief Librarian of the AACA Library & Research Center; and $25,000 to Mark Lizewskie, Executive Director of the AACA Museum.

“The JDRF Central PA and Eastern PA chapters thank Joannie Rich and The Elegance at Hershey for their continued support. This successful event has raised over $400,000 for type one diabetes research over the last five years,” said MaryAnn Pruden. “JDRF is the leading global organization funding type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. JDRF’s goal is to progressively remove the impact of T1D from people’s lives until we achieve a world without T1D. JDRF collaborates with a wide spectrum of partners and is the only organization with the scientific resources, regulatory influence, and a working plan to better treat, prevent, and eventually cure T1D. As the largest charitable supporter of T1D research, JDRF is currently sponsoring $568 million in scientific research in 17 countries.”

Founded in 2010, The Elegance at Hershey has contributed more than $550,000 to these deserving charities. The Elegance, held annually in June at The Hotel Hershey, offers a three day weekend event with activities that include: The Grand Ascent, an exciting vintage automobile hill climb; The Elegance 5k Challenge, a 5K that begins with 200-foot elevation rise over 7-tenths of a mile; and The Elegance, a judged Concours d’Elegance in the Formal Gardens of The Hotel Hershey featuring more than 65 of the world’s finest and most beautiful vehicles.

“We are extremely grateful for this donation and sincerely appreciate the generosity of The Elegance visitors, volunteers, staff and Board members. We will continue to use this proceeds to preserve automotive history and ensure that our automotive heritage remains visible for generations to come,” noted Chris Ritter.

“On behalf of the AACA Museum and its Board of Directors, staff and volunteers, I am extremely honored to receive this generous donation from The Elegance at Hershey. This donation will greatly assist us to continue being a world-class educational and entertaining facility. The AACA Museum has enjoyed its relationship with The Elegance at Hershey since its inception, and we are pleased to be chosen as one of its recipients,” said Mark Lizewskie.

“The Elegance is proud to support these deserving charities. We are so fortunate to have such wonderful relationships with local businesses partners. Without the support of our community we would not be able to provide such significant funds to these charities,” said Kara Lang.

Organizers of The Elegance at Hershey would like to thank all sponsors, donors, volunteers and Hershey Entertainment & Resorts. The Elegance at Hershey will take place June 12-14, 2015 at The Hotel Hershey.
