Porsche Style & Design January 25-April 28

Hershey, PA (January 17, 2013).  The Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) Museum is celebrating our 10th Anniversary in 2013.  The first exhibit of the New Year will be Porsche Style & Design coming January 25 – April 28, 2013.

The distinctive form and features of Porsche vehicles is revered by car lovers from around the globe.   This exciting display will highlight a vast number of Porsche road and race cars, including variants of  the 356, 911, 914 models, as well as some more modern cars, as part of this fabulous exhibit that encompasses the full history of Porsche and to kick-off the 50th Anniversary of the highly celebrated 911.  View the very best examples of both air and water-cooled production models, unique prototypes and famous racing versions which dominated the world’s race courses for decades.

This exhibit will display numerous products from Porsche – the design firm, and Porsche – the sports car manufacturer, that enabled the company to succeed and prosper.  While Porsche profited as an engineering design firm, its worldwide fame came from the achievements of its sports cars, an admired style on the highway and a winning design on the race track.

Immediately following World War II, the European economy was a poor incubator for a fledgling sports car company, especially one whose principals and country of operation were on the losing side of the global conflict.  It is a business miracle that Porsche GmbH survived, let alone prospered in that hostile business environment.

As a special program in conjunction with this exhibit the AACA Museum is proud to feature An Evening with Karl Ludvigsen, the famed Porsche author, on Friday evening, April 19th.  Karl is a world renowned automotive author who recently won the coveted Dean Batchelor Award, the highest honor in automotive journalism for his book Porsche: Origin of the Species.   This will be a special ticketed event with more details and tickets available in early 2013.  This is also the kick off to the Central Pennsylvania Porsche Swap Meet being held in Hershey April 20 & 21.

To celebrate the Museum’s 10th Anniversary, we’re offering a special admission program all year - Two for $10 Tuesdays!   Every Tuesday during 2013, we’re offering 2 guests (ages 4 & older) admission for just $10 -- half our regular admission price.  No additional coupons or discounts will be accepted.

The Antique Automobile Club of America Museum, a member of the Smithsonian Institution Affiliations Program, displays beautifully restored automobiles, buses and motorcycles in unique life-like scenes representing the 1900’s – 1970’s in a cross-country journey from New York to San Francisco.   The AACA Museum, a 501(c) (3) non-profit organization, is one of the nation’s newest and largest automotive museums.  Special exhibits change several times a year and focus on a variety of eras and types of vehicles.  The AACA Museum is located just off Route 39, one mile west of Hersheypark Drive in Hershey, Pennsylvania.  Regular admission $10, seniors age 61 and older $9, juniors age 4-12 $7, children age 3 and under are FREE.  The Museum is open daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM.   For further information, please call 717-566-7100 or visit www.aacamuseum.org.
