Tuckerville USA - Roads to Rails Model Train Exhibit
Date: 1/27/2009 - 12/31/2009
Time: All Day
Location: AACA Museum Lower Level Gallery
All Aboard! A custom model train display will roll out at the AntiqueAutoMuseum at Hershey on the first Saturday of each month from February - October and will begin daily operation in mid-November 14 through December 31st.
Travel back in time as these locomotives take you to “Tuckerville, USA” the Museum’s vision of small-town America in the 1950s. There are stores, factories, shops, a farm, and a railroad yard that features an automated turntable and locomotive repair shop. Other automated features include a gas station, Ford garage, a Drive-In restaurant and construction site complete with bulldozers. For our younger visitors, Thomas the Tank Engine is a popular attraction. Tuckerville is surrounded by rails, on which run a variety of vintage model trains manufactured by Lionel and Williams, Rail King and now Bachmann in a combination of O-gauge and HO-gauge sizes.
The display has been expanded to include over 350 feet of track and features a new Mountain scene and logging train. This new section has allowed us to incorporate a Bachmann HO scale train into the existing layout. This year’s display has a new home within the Museum and is now located on the lower level concourse in a separate exhibit area. The layout was designed and installed by a group of volunteers under the leadership of Ed Maloy, one of the founding board members of the Museum. It first debuted at the Museum during the 2006 holiday season.
New for this year is a Drive-in Theatre complete with movie screen, an interactive car wash and a saw mill lumber yard!
Trains were the forerunners of automobiles so we’re excited to offer this as an extension of the variety of experiences offered here at the Antique Auto Museum.
