Lusty Italians Coming To Hershey Iconic Italian Motorcars on Display at The Elegance at Hershey

HERSHEY, PA – The stunning manicured lawns of The Hotel Hershey will be graced by the presence of some of Italy’s finest automobiles at this year’s Elegance at Hershey. The annual event is known for displaying rare, exotic and beautiful collector cars at the magnificent venue. “We are absolutely overjoyed by our 2015 show field,” noted Mark Lizewskie, Elegance board member and head of car selection. “The quality and rarity of the Italian breeds to be showcased are simply breathtaking. If marques such as Ferrari, Lamborghini, Bizzarini and Alfa Romeo don’t quicken your pulse, I’m not sure what would!” In addition to a stunning Ferrari Lusso and 330GTS, the other notable Italian entries include a rare Bizzarini GT Strada 5300 and a 1967 Lancia Flaminia Super Sport Zagato. “These exquisite Gran Turismo machines will be a perfect complement to The Hotel Hershey’s Italianate design,” added Lizewskie. “We are also extremely excited that our Grand Marshalls, Leigh and Leslie Keno, will be bringing their 1969 Lamborghini Miura S to The Elegance as well!” In addition to the post-war Italian entries, one of the show-stoppers on the lawn will be a 1938 Alfa Romeo 6C2300B Mille Miglia coupe. Nicknamed the “Sleeping Beauty,” its unique history includes being discovered after over 30 years languishing in a reclusive collector’s French chateau. After being documented in the book Sleeping Beauties by German photographer Herbert Hesselmann, it was sold from the collection in the 1990s and the legendary car was eventually the subject of an intensive and detailed restoration of a perfectly original car.An equally impressive Alfa Romeo that will be making its debut at The Elegance is a 1929 6C1750SS roadster. “Don’t forget to visit the Concorso Bizarro field on Saturday. We are displaying a rare and gorgeous (one of about 50 in the U.S.) 1969 Ferrari 330 GT Pinin Farina coupe. What makes this beauty a rarity is that it is Chevy-powered,” notes Don Stabilito, Elegance executive director. “The Bowtie Ferrari comes to us all the way from Tallahassee, FL, automatically qualifying it for the award for the car that traveled furthest to be in our show.” About The Elegance at Hershey The Elegance at Hershey, a 501 (C) (3) organization based in Hershey, PA, was established in 2010. In its first four years, The Elegance at Hershey has donated over $550,000 to its three charities, JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation), The AACA Museum and the AACA Library & Research Center. The Elegance Welcomes Famed Keno Brothers from Antiques Roadshow as Event’s Grand Marshalls

HERSHEY, PA – Leigh Keno and Leslie Keno are American antiquarians appearing on the popular PBS show Antiques Roadshow for the past eighteen years, the PBS show Find, MSN’s Collect This! with the Keno Brothers, and on Fox’s Buried Treasure. Leigh and Leslie were honored to accompany First Lady Laura Bush on a History Channel tour of the White House entitled The White House Behind Closed Doors. This public side of these brothers is what we all know best. It may not be too surprising then that these brothers also have a passion for automotive collecting and antique cars, but we bet you don’t know just how deep that pursuit runs! Leigh and Leslie were immersed in the world of classic cars starting from a very young age, as their father Ronald is an aficionado of American, British and Italian motor cars. Leigh and Leslie’s first purchase at age sixteen was a 1963 3.8 litre Jaguar XK-E Roadster, which they restored with their father and still own today. The Keno Brothers are passionate about raising public awareness regarding preserving original components of a car whenever possible. They subscribe to the principle that “a car can only be original once.” They participate in many world class venues such as Palm Beach’s Cavallino Classic where they showed their 1955 Ferrari Europa 250GT, and Amelia Island’s and Pebble Beach’s Concours d’Elegances where they acted as judges. They are avid VSCCA racers campaigning their ’59 Lotus Eleven Series II and a ’59 Lola Mk I among others. Their 1980 Ferrari 512 BB/LM competes in the Historic Ferrari Challenge. Their Ferrari Europa was the class winner for preservation for a pre-1970 Ferrari Beach Cavallino. “We are privileged to welcome the Keno Brothers as Co-Grand Marshalls of The Elegance at Hershey this June,” states Board Member Steve Moskowitz. “They are high-energy personalities and their enthusiasm for the classic car hobby is sure to captivate all of our guests enjoying our weekend-long celebration.” There will be plenty of photo ops and chances to snag Leigh’s and Leslie’s autographs as the brothers mingle with our guests throughout the weekend. The Kenos will also be exhibiting their beautiful 1969 Lamborghini Miura S at this year’s event. Drivers Announced for Grand Ascent Vintage Race Car Hill Climb

Wayne Carini and Coach Dick Vermeil Among Drivers at This Year’s Grand Ascent Vintage Race Car Hill Climb Tickets Now Available for Spectators and Ride Along Experiences HERSHEY, PA – The historic Hershey Hill Climb commenced operations in 1958 and ran until 1970. It was revived in 2002, running regular events until 2008. Organizers of The Elegance at Hershey recognized the historic significance of the Hershey Hill Climb and sought to once again restart the event. Through the dedicated efforts of The Elegance founder, Jack Rich, with the cooperation of the Antique Automobile Club of America and Hershey Entertainment and Resorts, the event was recommissioned, renamed The Grand Ascent and made one of the cornerstones of the weekend long celebration we collectively call The Elegance at Hershey. This year’s two-day Grand Ascent exhibition will be held on June 12 and 13. In the post-war years of the mid-1940s, Pennsylvania was a veritable hotbed of auto racing. Tracks of all configurations dotted the landscape throughout the state. Each weekend these race courses roared to life with the sound of finely tuned engines and crowds came to cheer on their favorite drivers. South Central Pennsylvania was firmly entrenched in all forms of open-wheel racing including sprint cars, midgets, quarter-midgets and the like. Nearby in Virginia and West Virginia, another form of racing was taking shape. Stock car racing was becoming increasingly popular. In the midst of all this development yet another form of motor sport came into prominence, that being the gentlemen racers – amateur sport car drivers racing. It is said the first auto race took place after the second auto was built. These amateurs wanted to test their mettle against their peers. The hill climb became the venue of choice for many of these racers. Hill climbing is one of the oldest forms of racing and perhaps one of the simplest in theory. Execution, however, is another matter. By nature, hill climb courses are typically laid out on twisting mountain roads with unforgiving drop-offs on one side and equally unforgiving mountain rock on the other. These racers compete against each other in a unique way by running against a clock and not head-to-head. The best time on the hill determines the winner. The Hershey Hill Climb played an important role in this sport’s popularity in the 1960s. Run twice each season, the second meet many times determined the overall champion for the season. What we now call The Grand Ascent is a challenging course. The narrow roadway is shaded with a canopy of mature trees that render the course almost tunnel-like. It is a very technical course narrow in width, rising 200 feet in a mere 0.7 of a mile with demanding twists and turns throughout its length. Come join us to re-live this part of racing history. You will enjoy the sights and sounds of more than forty...

Sierra now spends her time traveling the country speaking about her journey with diabetes, as well as overcoming adversity and being proud of the things that make us different. “We are most pleased that Sierra Sandison has agreed to join us for this year’s Elegance at Hershey,” says Steve Moskowitz, Elegance Board Member. “She is an inspiration to all demonstrating her drive and determination in sharing with the world her disability and her strength to overcome it. World’s Most Famous Car Comes to Hershey

HERSHEY, PA – The Elegance At Hershey is thrilled to announce that the one and only 1964 James Bond 007 Aston Martin DB5 used in the movie Goldfinger will be exhibited during the June 14th event. “Having this iconic and instantly recognizable car at The Elegance is an absolute thrill on so many levels,” noted Mark Lizewskie, Chairman of Car Selection. “The Aston Martin DB5 is such a beautiful car to begin with, and the 007 provenance raises the excitement quotient to maximum!” The car, owned by Ohio collector Harry Yeaggy, carries the JB007 license plates, and is one of two that appeared in both the Goldfinger and Thunderball movies. The other car was stripped of its gadgetry after public touring, and in 1997 was reported stolen from a Florida airplane hangar and has never been recovered. The Yeaggy-owned car was purchased in 1969 by radio station owner Jerry Lee and stored for 40 years before being purchased by Yeaggy. It still carries all of 007’s spy technology as supplied by Q! “Arguably the World’s Most Famous Car, the Aston Martin DB5 with its British lineage will look right at home in the beautiful formal gardens of the Hotel Hershey,” says Don Stabilito, Executive Director of the Elegance. “We are truly thrilled and honored to present this exemplary automobile at this year’s Elegance at Hershey.” About The Elegance at Hershey The Elegance at Hershey, a 501 (C) (3) organization based in Hershey, PA, was established in 2010. The Weird, Wacky and Just Plain Tacky to Invade Hershey

The Elegance at Hershey Announces New Event (February 25, 2015) Hershey, Pa:  The Elegance at Hershey has announced a fun new event incorporated into their automotive weekend of festivities. Dubbed, “Concorso Bizarro,” the tongue-in-cheek car show brings together those mechanical misfits, those automotive abhorrences and the just plain tacky. The Elegance at Hershey Executive Director and Concorso Bizarro Chairman “Dyno” Don Stabilito stated, “We’ve all seen them. They are the forgotten and forlorn – never the centerpiece of a dedicated gathering at an automotive event, but each has a story to tell. This is a perfect opportunity to celebrate this part of our hobby. No trailer queens, no over-the-top restorations. They’re the pride and joy of their respective owners and the Concorso Bizarro allows us the chance to have a little fun with both the vehicles and their owners. For one shiny day in June, they will be the stars of the show!” “I fully appreciate and revere the great machines such as the Duesenbergs and Ferraris that grace the showfield on Sunday,” noted Elegance Board Member Mark Lizewskie, “but for some reason I’ve always gravitated towards these weird and wacky cars. People may not say ‘Wow!’ when they view a Yugo, a Gremlin or someone’s artcar creation, but they certainly smile and chuckle.” The new event takes place on Saturday, June 13th from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. in the parking field adjacent to Route 39 and Boathouse Road in Hershey. It adds another layer of automotive experiences to The Elegance at Hershey, which already includes The Grand Ascent Vintage Race Car Hill Climb, the 5K Challenge foot race and, of course, the grand feature of the weekend, Sunday’s Concours d’Elegance at The Hotel Hershey. Think you have a car that would fit in at the Concorso Bizarro? Click here to learn more and for a registration form. In its first four years, The Elegance at Hershey, a 501(c) (3) nonprofit, has given over $500,000 to its three charities, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, the AACA Museum and the AACA Library and Research Center.
